Anthony Nolan

Recently I received a very important letter, it contained my Anthony Nolan donor card.

If you are unaware of who Anthony Nolan are, here is a brief description from their website:

Anthony Nolan is a charity that saves the lives of people with blood cancer by matching remarkable people willing to donate their bone marrow (or stem cells) to patients in desperate need of a transplant. We also do vital research to make stem cell transplants as successful as possible.

Anyone in good health, aged between 16 and 30 can join their register, where they will stay until they are 60. All that is needed is a saliva sample (they provide you with a kit) and they’ll be added to the database. Each time someone needs a donor, this database is searched to find a match.

Unfortunately, even with half a million people on the register, there is still not a match for everyone who needs a donor. This is where you can help; if you are aged between 16 and 30 and interested in becoming a donor, head on over to their website to find out more. If you do not fall within this age bracket, you can still help; it cost £60 for them to sign someone up to the register so they are in constant need of support. Furthermore, simply raising awareness of the charity can inspire more people to sign up and become potential life-savers.

Thank you for reading and if you would like to find out more about the charity click here to go over to their website.

  1. Very powerful. I feel like this topic needs to be discussed more, and your blog is amazing. Thanks so much for sharing. I hope one day many more people will see this post, it’s a issue that is important to me as it is to you.
