Recently I received a very important letter, it contained my Anthony Nolan donor card.
If you are unaware of who Anthony Nolan are, here is a brief description from their website:
Anthony Nolan is a charity that saves the lives of people with blood cancer by matching remarkable people willing to donate their bone marrow (or stem cells) to patients in desperate need of a transplant. We also do vital research to make stem cell transplants as successful as possible.
Anyone in good health, aged between 16 and 30 can join their register, where they will stay until they are 60. All that is needed is a saliva sample (they provide you with a kit) and they’ll be added to the database. Each time someone needs a donor, this database is searched to find a match.
Unfortunately, even with half a million people on the register, there is still not a match for everyone who needs a donor. This is where you can help; if you are aged between 16 and 30 and interested in becoming a donor, head on over to their website to find out more. If you do not fall within this age bracket, you can still help; it cost £60 for them to sign someone up to the register so they are in constant need of support. Furthermore, simply raising awareness of the charity can inspire more people to sign up and become potential life-savers.
Thank you for reading and if you would like to find out more about the charity click here to go over to their website.
Okay, so I know what you’re thinking, ‘Who is this new teenage girl with a blog and can she really be that different to EVERY other teenage blogger out there?’
Truthfully, I’m not that different. I’m just a teenager with a bit of spare time on my hands who loves writing. I’m just Debbi…hence the name of this blog.
So now you’ll be thinking, ‘If you’re not that different, what makes you think I’m going to continue reading?’
Well, if you are still reading, I’m just going to tell you a bit about myself and you can decide for yourself whether you want to carry on or not.
So yes, my name is Debbi and yes, I am a teenager. I live in England and am currently studying for A Levels in Mathematics, English Language and Psychology. I have three chickens and two rabbits and love them with all my heart. I spend the majority of my spare time watching Glee and the SacconeJolys, dancing to obnoxiously loud music or reading Cosmo. My wardrobe is overflowing yet I only wear about three outfits and I own WAY too much makeup for my own good. About two years ago, I did make a blog. It has now been removed from the internet because of excruciatingly high cringe levels but it was something I thoroughly enjoyed doing.
By now, you’ll have decided if you like the sound of me and, if you do, you’ll be wondering what to expect from this blog. This is the bit I’m still struggling with. My old blog was makeup-centred and, although makeup is still one of my biggest obsessions, I’m not really feeling that at the moment. I do LOVE to cook, so I guess that will be quite a big feature but I’m mainly just going to go with the flow and see what I feel like writing about.
If you’re interested, stick around, I’m sure we’ll get along fabulously.
